What You'll Do:

Billtrust is seeking a Database Administrator to join our dynamic DBA team that manages a multi-terabyte database environment hosted on our private and public cloud platforms. You will play a key role in managing and improving the availability, reliability and scalability of our large scale MySQL database systems. 

• Provide operational DBA support for our distributed MySQL production and non-production environments (both on
  premise and AWS RDS MySQL)
• Review, approve and carefully schedule deployment of database DDL / DML changes to meet our data integrity
  and database availability requirements
• Perform product release related database deployments across environments in collaboration with other
  operational teams
• Manage and enhance database maintenance jobs (i.e. backups, data purge & index maintenance) to ensure
  database reliability and scalability
• Pro-actively monitor production databases and resolve any issues (i.e. long running queries, replication errors) to
  prevent negative impact on our customers
• Maintain and enhance database automation scripts that leverage SQL and Linux bash scripting
• Collaborate with development teams on index design, SQL query tuning and evangelizing best practices
• Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation and provide off-hours production support

What You'll Bring to the Team:

• 2 to 3 years of experience in the hands-on support, monitoring, troubleshooting and performance tuning of large MySQL databases in production environments
• Working knowledge of MySQL database technology, configuration and replication
• Good understanding of relational databases, indexing strategies and SQL query tuning techniques
• Believer in automation with some experience automating database operational tasks via custom scripting / tools
• Proven ability to plan, perform and verify database changes in production and non-production environments
• Experience with other database technologies (MongoDB, SQL Server) nice-to-have
• Experience with Agile Scrum / Kanban nice-to-have
• Experience in a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), online payments, software or product-centric business a plus
• Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or similar (or equivalent experience)
