Data Security Engineer
Summary
The Data Security Engineer is responsible for protecting Workiva’s computers, networks and data against threats, such as security breaches, computer viruses or attacks by cyber-criminals. The Data Security Engineer administers an enterprise security stance through policy, architecture and training processes. This individual is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Data Security as well as performing pre-sales and post-sales activities in the field as needed. Assisting the team on best practices, improving skills and overcoming challenges in the field. The Data Security Engineer will be responsible for improving process, documentation and other customer deliverables for scaling the team. The Data Security Engineer contributes to Wdesk security by identifying short-term and long-range issues and customer concerns that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; and implementing directives
Responsibilities
Creates and improves processes, documentation and other customer deliverables
Identifies short-term and long-range issues and customer concerns to improve Wdesk security
Assists in the prioritization, coordination and fulfillment of IT security requests from legal and compliance areas
Conducts security assessments for new technologies, 3rd party vendors and acquisitions
Executes processes and procedures to ensure new systems and processes introduced into the environment meet established standards
Manages relationships with IT security awareness program in conjunction with the compliance department
Manages and directs IT security awareness program in conjunction with the compliance department
Maintains IT security team’s awareness of emerging threats, e.g. new viruses, hacker contests and system vulnerabilities

Experience
- 3-5 Years of information security experience required
- Prior knowledge and understanding of relevant legal and regulatory requirements, such as Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA), Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), Payment Card Industry/Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), SANS and ISO27001
- Prior knowledge and understanding of common information security management frameworks such as HITRUST, ISO,IEC27001, ITIL, COBIT and ones from NIST
- B.A./B.S. degree in computer science or related field
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills
- Strong planning, organizing, detail, and multi-tasking skills to prioritize numerous projects and meet deadlines
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- 2+ years of IT Security experience, including Cloud Solutions
- Compliance experience particularly in vendor management
- Knowledge of security frameworks
- Strong knowledge of Workiva products through a commitment to ongoing training
Education
- BS degree (in lieu of degree, 4 years of relevant work experience)
- CISSP, CISM or other information security certification preferred
Travel Requirement
- 25%-40% travel
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Depending on assigned work location, walking outdoors between company campus facilities in a variety of weather conditions may be necessary to perform responsibilities of this position
- Travel required 25-40% of time by car/plane to meet with customers and Workiva personnel
