As Pie's Data Reporting Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring Pie has an establishing a data and reporting program as required by state agencies and rating bureaus. You will work with the product, finance, customer care and legal teams to ensure accurate and timely data reporting.
How You'll Do It
Preparation and filing of department of insurance data calls
- Includes calls to National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI) and Independent Rating Bureaus.
- Run necessary reports, aggregate relevant data, and timely prepare reports responsive to industry data calls, working independently to identify, organize, and present data, as well as working directly with internal stakeholders to verify data and report accuracy.
Manage workers' compensation bureau criticism process to ensure timely compliance with regulatory timeframes
- Responsible for automated and manual processes for distribution, tracking, and follow-up of bureau criticisms, including proof of coverage and unit statistical reporting issues, for NCCI and Independent Rating Bureaus.
- Responsible for handling proof of coverage inquiries coordinating a response working with internal stakeholders, the policy-reporting vendor, brokers & agents, insureds, and state regulatory agencies.
- Review, monitor, and analyze data and reports to provide regular status updates on bureau criticism activity, fines, and proof of coverage issues to management. Proactively identifies problem areas and offers solutions.
- Validate, reconcile and correct premium and coding data prior to reporting to regulatory agencies. Investigate reporting data errors to determine origin of errors.
Interact with multiple levels in the organization to communicate deficiencies that contribute to compliance issues, including criticisms, fines, and proof of coverage issues
- Collaborate with internal partners regarding interpretations of reporting requirements to ensure accurate and timely submissions.
- Maintain an accurate log showing course of action taken for all incoming bureau error letters. Run various reports/queries from the bureau websites. Completes all research and works closely with the bureaus to determine validity of fines.
- Respond to reporting inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist in root cause analysis of compliance issues working with various stakeholders to understand workflows and systems to make recommendations on training, workflow processes, and system improvements.
The Right Stuff
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience with some college coursework is preferred
- At least 5 years with analytical experience is required
- Specific working knowledge of statistical and regulatory agencies including, but not limited to NCCI, Independent Rating Bureaus, and the NAIC is highly required
- 5+ years of workers' comp insurance reporting experience is required
- Ability to analyze and interpret data required
- Must be able to analyze information recognizing interdependencies, trends and anomalies, as well as understanding business implications.
- Strong interpersonal and project management skills required.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, with strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills required.

Compensation Range for position: $80,000 - $98,000
Each year Pie reviews company performance and may grant discretionary bonuses to eligible team members.

This role has the option to be hybrid or remote. Hybrid work locations provide team members with the flexibility of working partially from our Denver or DC office and from home. Remote team members must live and work in the United States*, and have access to reliable, high-speed internet.
