How you'll make an impact
Based in Denver, you will be a key part of the Cloud Data platform team as we design and build tools for application deployment, system automation, and configuration management. Our goal is to create a platform to provide data services to Xero product teams in a highly automated fashion. You will build on the technical capabilities of the team to own and manage the production data infrastructure, troubleshoot performance issues, and resolve production incidents.
What you'll do
- Develop continuous delivery pipelines and software tools to automate cloud based database solutions
- Build and support database infrastructure that confirms to industry and Xero standards
- Continuously improve processes and solutions to be scalable and highly available
- Implement detection and alerting of anomalous behaviours
- Provide technical solutions that shape the team backlog. This includes listening to and interacting with product architects, product owners, site reliability engineers, leadership teams, and product team developers and database administrators
- Work with the product teams to help them use the team's services to solve real-world problems and operational concerns
- Work with your team to take operational responsibility for their services and to establish processes and monitoring which drives incremental improvement
- Provide 24x7 on call support as required
What you'll bring with you
- 3+ years hands-on experience automating infrastructure in a cloud environment, preferably Amazon Web Services
- Practical experience with infrastructure automation through code (Powershell, Bash, Python, Cloudformation, Terraform, etc.)
- Experience with object oriented programming languages (Python, C#, Java, etc.)
- A good knowledge of relational database systems and concepts (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.)
- Experience administering Windows or Linux servers in a highly available environment
- Familiarity with agile software development methodology and tooling, including continuous integration and continuous deployment
- A strong desire to automate processes, build software tools, and create infrastructure-as-code solutions in a DevOps environment
- Exceptional troubleshooting and analytical abilities
