Guild wants to increase economic mobility for working adults in America, providing education and support to help every student survive and thrive in the economy of tomorrow. Our education benefits platform helps employers offer education as a benefit to their employees, and our network of nonprofit universities and education institutions helps provide every Guild student with the right academic pathway to advance their education and career. In order to achieve our mission to serve 1000s more students and accelerate our growth, we recently raised a $21M Series B round with top tier investors including Bessemer Venture Partners, Redpoint Ventures, Social Capital, Harrison Metal, and Cowboy Ventures.

We are looking for a Data Operations Associate to work at the intersection of our Finance, Student Operations, and Data Engineering teams. We will count on you to support data reconciliations with a high degree of accuracy to enable reliable student and financial operations. This role will have a meaningful impact on the business and our students given the mission-critical nature of our data systems, invoicing and payments functions. You’ll love this role if you have a keen eye for detail and precision, enjoy getting to the bottom of problems, finding potential solutions, and are comfortable working with little supervision to meet tight deadlines.

A day in our open, collaborative workspace will look a little like this:

  • Proactively ensuring Guild’s financial data integrity, including
    • Establishing an ongoing audit process to maintain data quality and keep systems up and running
    • Collaborating with other departments to ensure student data and billing accuracy while identifying and finding solutions for known issues
    • Reconciling customer and student accounts for invoicing and non-billing needs, including providing manual updates if needed
    • Extracting and analyzing information from our internal Salesforce systems and our partner data sources; manipulating transactional data into billing information
  • Supporting work on data and billing process improvements and process documentation
    • Analyzing data and supporting report / invoice creation for students, universities, and corporate partners as needed
    • Reconciling student and corporate partner account balances
    • Identify trends and patterns in data issues and be a thought partner as to how we address what is causing these issues from a structural / systemic perspective
  • Partnering with Finance, Client and University Partnerships, Data, Engineering, and Biz Ops to resolve issues and drive improvements for automated and manual data and billing systems

In this role, you’ll bring skills and expand your expertise by:

  • Taking on a cross-functional role that will expose you to the ins and outs of Guild
  • Developing new ideas and best practices to improve / evolve data systems and financial processes to support growth and scale

You’ll know if you’re successful by:

  • Ensuring Guild’s student and financial data integrity on an ongoing basis
  • Proactively finding and solving immediate problems while identifying root causes and proposing longer-term solutions

You’ll join a team:

  • Of learners & problem-solvers dedicated to our dual mission of changing education in America while building a successful, high-growth company
  • Committed to building a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment that you’d support every day

What you’ll add to Guild - as an individual and part of the broader team:

  • College degree in Finance, Accounting, or other technical area
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience in a detail oriented environment with high expectation of precision
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with technical data systems including SQL and Salesforce strongly preferred
  • Self starter with demonstrated time management skills and ability to work independently, while managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, evolving work environment
  • Analytical, detailed and process oriented; constantly coming up with process improvements to streamline and systematize
  • Enjoy collaborating with others and are successful working with cross-functional teams
  • Growth mindset; ability and willingness to learn quickly and develop new skills and abilities as the company grows
  • Roll-up-the-sleeves, action oriented mindset to have an impact in a fast-paced, rapidly changing growth environment
  • Something else? Wonderful, we’re curious to learn more about you!
