Data Governance Analyst
IHS Markit is seeking an IT Data Governance Analyst to help drive implementation and maintenance of key master meta-data management. This role includes overseeing the integrity, efficiency, and availability of these key data sets. Assisting in developing and implementing data standards, guaranteeing metadata is captured correctly, and creating methods for monitoring and reporting any data issues. This will include monitoring of data usage and supporting users to enable and ensure they are following data governance procedures. This role will initially focus on data cleansing and management of two key data sets and will expand to include higher order functions for those key data sets and other data sets to be added in future.

Responsibilities:
- Near Term:
- Review and reconcile managed meta data differences between key systems:
- Minimally this requires the use of CSV exports analyzed via Excel
- Use of SQL, MS Access and/or other tools to expedite a plus
- Work with contributors, stakeholders and downstream users to:
- Make/incorporate a backlog of requested changes in primary systems
- Drive required updates in downstream systems
- Monitor integrity reporting in order to:
- Make corrections directly, where applicable
- Drive users or developers of related systems to make system of process changes to ensure data integrity
- Review and reconcile managed meta data differences between key systems:
- Mid Term:
- Refine data integrity requirements for key management meta data elements including:
- Data integrity rules and standards
- A published data dictionary of key data elements
- Key performance indicators showing implementation completeness and quality data
- Define and drive development requirements for automation to:
- Minimize or reduce meta-data differences between primary and secondary systems
- Streamline processes for requesting creation, modification or deprecation of managed meta-data elements
- Work with contributors, stakeholders and downstream users to:
- Capture/complete missing key data elements
- Deprecate unused meta data items
- Align meta-data to industry standard taxonomies where applicable
- Refine data integrity requirements for key management meta data elements including:
- Longer Term:
- Design and drive period review/revalidation and exception processes including:
- Implementing manual processes for requesting review and validation
- Defining and driving requirements for automated processes for review and revalidation
- Evolve work done above to define repeatable patterns to expand data governance into additional managed data sets including:
- Identification and prioritization of data sets and stakeholders
- Definition of scope in terms of data, primary and secondary systems
- Implementation of data cleansing, data integrity and meta-data management
- Design and drive period review/revalidation and exception processes including:
Qualifications:
- Must be extremely detail oriented to identify subtle differences in data sets
- Able to identify larger patterns and associations to recognize and drive multi-system integrity
- Ready willing and able to learn and fully know the managed data sets such that incongruous data is easily identified
- Highly proficient in Excel and/or other tools (SQL, MS Access etc.) for managing data and to perform comparisons between data sets
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across diverse stakeholders across multiple geographic regions
- Knowledge/experience with Office 365 tools, MS Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Word a plus
- Operates with high integrity and transparency
- Ability to deliver high quality results while working in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge/experience with Master Data Management (MDM) and Extract Transform Load (ETL) a plus.
