Corporate Development Analyst
Position Details:
The Corporate Development Analyst works closely with the VP – Corporate Development to drive the company’s inorganic growth agenda. This involves prioritizing categories to explore, evaluating the landscape of companies in those categories, prioritizing potential targets, valuing and structuring deals, conducting due diligence and supporting integration (with a similar set of activities for any divestitures the company decides to pursue).
Depending on workload, the role may at times support the broader strategy needs of the company and assist the Chief Strategy Officer and Corporate Strategists in developing corporate and business-unit strategies and/or analyzing high priority strategic questions.
The role will require strong project management, business analytics, strategic thinking, problem solving, executive communications and consensus building. There will be significant hands-on work requiring detailed market / industry / category / company analysis, valuation and modeling, information synthesis, and preparation / presentation of report material.
The role requires frequent interaction with senior management across multiple functional areas.
Essential Job Functions
The majority of time will be spent supporting acquisitions and divestitures as well as some involvement with potential partnerships. Depending on work load there may be times when the role helps the Corporate Strategists with their analysis and deliverables.
Primary Responsibilities include:
Supporting various aspects ofM&A activity
- Develop and maintain complex financial models which support management decisions to act upon corporate initiatives and acquisition targets
- Perform forecasting, valuation and scenario analysis
- Perform due diligence and post-closing acquisition reviews
- Prepare forecasts for corporate initiatives and acquisitions
- Perform research, cost studies and benchmarking to support financial and operational assumptions
Supporting Strategy team on Corporate/BU-level strategy
- Assist members of the finance team and other functional teams in developing processes and policies for new business initiatives
- Prepare materials for presentations for senior management and other stakeholders as needed
- Work cross-functionally with other business units
Education
- Bachelor Degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- MBA or other business qualification preferred
Experience
- 2-4 years experience working in M&A, corporate development or business development, either as part of a corporate team or a strategy consultancy
- Experience working across different geographies and cultures
- Experience working on strategy in a B2B software environment preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to engage with middle/senior management to understand needs, communicate findings
- Sharp mind with strong analytical and numeric skills, proficient in financial modeling and analysis
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to establish and maintain collaborative work relationships within the company as well as with external business partners
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects in a timely manner. Adept in standard office software tools, especially MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
- Strong presentation and report-writing skills
- Solid understanding of corporate finance
- Ability to think globally in relation to the Company’s strategic plan
- Working knowledge of international telecom/media market (BSS/OSS sector, in particular) preferred
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language in a business environment
