A Brief Overview
The Business Intelligence Developer Analyst will be responsible for providing valuable business information by querying data from multiple databases as well as design, development, implementation and support of reports and dashboards. They will work with end-users and project teams to define requirements and rules and collaboratively construct solutions. A successful candidate will be able to understand underlying data and systems, query/manipulate data, and create reporting and analytics solutions using reporting platforms such as OpenText BIRT, Tableau, Cognos, and Crystal Reports, as well as lead key BI initiatives and keep pace with current BI processes and technologies.

What you will do
- Capture business needs and requirements through collaborative end-user discussions.
- Design and develop reports and dashboards in a fast paced, project-oriented team environment.
- Address data queries and ad-hoc report requests in meeting with our service level objectives set with the business.
- Create, analyze, and maintain a variety of reports to meet a wide range of business needs.
- This includes ensuring timely development fixes to emergent report issues.
- Apply your product knowledge and technical expertise with respect to report development tools.
- Build and modify application embedded forms, letters, and disclosures.
- Guide our team up the maturity curve as we transition into more analytics-based reporting (as opposed to point-in-time).
- Work with vendors to define critical requirements, analyze system problems, discuss problem resolution, and engage in advancing the vendor roadmap.
- Actively contribute to the design and architecture of our reporting environment.
- Keep current on Business Intelligence technology.
- Pursue formal and informal educational opportunities to expand knowledge and improve skills.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
- Understand and comply with all provisions of the Safety in the Workplace policy.
Minimum Requirements
- Typically requires a bachelor's degree in related field and a minimum of 2 years of related experience.
- A combination of post-high school education, job related certification and related experience equivalent to 5 years may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements
Preferred Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, other technical field, or business preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability and desire to lead others
- Experience with analytics tools such as OpenText BIRT, Microsoft BI Tools (SSAS, SSRS), Tableau
- Working knowledge of user-centric design and development concepts, including information architecture and usability testing
- Experience with relational databases, including SQL
- Capacity to multitask and balance multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Strong logical and analytical problem solving skills
- Proven ability to design modern reports and dashboards
- Ability to gather information effectively and think critically about what information is being requested
- Basic scripting knowledge
- A strong interest in report technology with a desire to continue growing and expanding your business and technical skills Aptitude
- Working knowledge of FirstBank applications, change control process and development methodology
- Experience with Cognos, Crystal Reports, PeopleSoft nVision, SQR a plus
- Note: Initially, hires from outside the company would not have the FirstBank-specific knowledge required
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Frequently remains stationary throughout a typical business day
- Frequently operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
- Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, and other rooms
- Occasionally positions self to access drawers and shelves of various heights
- Frequently reaches for and handles paperwork and files
- Constantly communicates with customers, coworkers, and management in-person and on the phone
- Must be able to exchange accurate information
