Position Description
The Business Analyst role supporting IT / Finance will focus on Finance and Accounting related development projects and is responsible for researching, designing, and refining the policies, processes, and systems that ensures an effortless development experience and set or adhere to standards for best practices. An effective Business Analyst should be an expert in navigating Salesforce.com and Excel. An ability to understand complex system dependencies, propose course of action based on business initiatives, and support project management efforts using agile methodology. The position requires strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Communication skills are critical since the Business Analyst will operate as a main point of contact with stakeholders and requestors to identify requirements, dependencies, and timelines between technical and business teams. An individual with a hunger to solve problems and improve operational performance will excel in this role. Works alongside QA/Production Support and Developers to ensure teams are contributing to the company roadmap and making data-driven decisions to positively support the business and drive revenue growth.
Responsibilities
- Become a subject matter expert on Finance, Accounting, Capital, Accounts Payable and Procurement automation processes
- Apply advanced analytical methods to proactively identify improvements
- Own implementation and ongoing enhancements directly into Salesforce and adjacent applications
- Expect basic project management processes to be employed when applicable, including:
- Define development processes in line with effortless / agile / lean methodologies
- Project priority is clearly understood and reflected at all times
- Business and technical requirements are clearly and completely identified and reviewed with stakeholders prior to request for IT development team to engage.
- Process flowcharts are included with requests for new process or changes to existing (where applicable)
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
- Track and communicate status of business initiatives to management
- Apply advanced analytical methods to proactively identify improvements
- Test software via UI and Scripts. Log and Track defects found during testing
- Assist with testing of finance applications in Pre-Production and Production ensuring code / logic adheres to the provided requirements and audit compliance
- Ensure a coherent knowledge database of training and process documentation is properly built and maintained
- Support Finance from an operations perspective, including business analysis, reporting and visualization
- Establish new processes in line with business requirements and roadmap
- Creation and maintenance of reports/dashboard/data/metrics used to measure and ensure success
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in business, finance, economics or other degree requiring analytical aptitude or equivalent relevant work experience
- 1-3 years of business analysis, finance, accounting, software development, and/or technology analyst experience preferred
- Mastery in G Suite and MS Office suite of tools with emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint is required
- Strong knowledge of Salesforce.com, Oracle and/or GitLab platforms is a plus
- Strong attention to detail, superb organizational skills, and ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Ability to work across functional boundaries
- Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of functional teams, and strong interpersonal skills for supporting and advising sales teams on proper systems and process
- Capacity to work on multiple projects and meet various deadlines
- Comfortable with understanding and applying material conditional logic
- Aptitude for learning new/different processes within the company to better understand other data architectures and workflows
- Ability to view issues and concerns from multiple perspectives, and to keep the “big picture” in focus
