Position Title

Business Analyst – Data Governance

KG Lewis is seeking an experienced Business Analyst with data governance experience. The business analyst will quickly assimilate in a new team and understand the developing methods, capabilities and tools. You will work with business people and technologists to gather, synthesize and organize information into meaningful and actionable requirements or other deliverables. You will enable the Enterprise Data Office to fully develop, deliver, realize adoption and provide ongoing support and expansion of data governance and quality capabilities and platform. The business analyst plays a vital role in creating long-term healthy customer relationships. This is a project-based engagement with the possibility of conversion to a full time role.

Responsibilities

  • Understand Enterprise Data Office business capabilities, operating models and frameworks and translate those into requirements for the data governance and quality technology platform.
  • Understand business capabilities, processes and associated data taxonomies, ontologies and flows and translate into data governance requirements.
  • Spearhead working sessions with technical resources and business users, providing thought leadership to clearly articulate business requirements.
  • Complete information gathering and analysis to define and document detailed business requirements success criteria, test cases, training materials, user guides and other communications.
  • Quickly learn Informatica Axon functionality and capabilities to become an authority on the team.
  • Perform validations and testing for implementation.
  • Enable data governance managers and end users with adoption of the platform.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of a data dictionary/business glossary and other data governance metadata in Informatica Axon.
  • Assist in defining metadata standards and requirements, auditing metadata quality while maintaining frameworks and standards.
  • Independently manage workload, timing and quality of deliverables; coordinate with other team members, raise awareness of issues and risks.

Required Education, Experience, Skills, and Attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or Business is preferred.
  • 10+ years of demonstrable relevant professional work experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a formal business analyst role performing similar duties; experience in a formal consulting role preferred.
  • Experience with Informatica Axon, Enterprise Data Catalogue (EDC) and / or Informatica Data Quality (IDQ) or other data governance, catalog and quality solutions is highly desirable.
  • Experience defining, and documenting business process flows, business glossaries, data taxonomies, ontologies and flows.
  • Strong understanding of databases and data structures with a minimum of 5-years of experience in multiple data management areas including: Data governance and stewardship operations, Data quality management, Metadata management, Reference data management, Master data management, Data Warehouse/ BI.
  • Experience with Agile methodology or scrum methods.
  • Experience in the Financial Asset Management industry and large organizations with diverse and globally distributed teams.
  • Expert critical thinking skills and ability to summarize complex issues in written form to facilitate thought leading discussions.
  • Demonstrable ability to interpret business capabilities into functional requirements for technology and technology functionality into business capability enablement.
  • Knowledge of business requirements analysis, definition, management, process analysis and documentation.
  • Skilled team-player and collaborator.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Strong ability to develop solid working relationships and build trust.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Financial Services industry experience preferred.
  • Consulting experience with proven ability to successfully deliver on client projects preferred.
