The Role

The Data Platforms Engineering manager will be co-leading a high-performing microservice development team responsibile for developing GraphQL APIs and Java microservices that provide our residential, mobile and small-medium business customers the ability to pay their bill and interact with their billing statements. This role will also develop and shepherd microservices from development to production and participate in securing, monitoring and operating the services, helping to enhance automation and best practices.

BE PART OF THE CONNECTION
The Data Platforms Manager on this team builds the underlying APIs and services that enable superior customer self-service experiences, analytics and reporting. Contributes to engineering and operational excellence by providing a highly available API platform at web scale. Works across the organization to establish development standards and execute data solutions that align with Charter's broader corporate strategy and ultimately drive a superior customer experience. Directly supervises the teams responsible for creating an information advantage for the organization with a focus on scalability, time to market, delivery, operations, and customer experience.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO SPECTRUM
Required Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of Telecommunications, Product and/or equivalent experience
    • 2+ years of Software engineering team management
    • 2+ years of Distributed computing software development
    • Experience developing distributed software operating in JVM and on Linux
    • Experience leading people and projects to a successful, high impact outcome
  • Education:
    • BA or BS College Degree or related work experience
  • Technical Skills:
    • Demonstrated understanding of reactive platforms like Akka, Node.JS, Play, etc.
    • Exposure to GraphQL based APIs
    • Demonstrated understanding of public cloud infrastructure services capabilities such as AWS
    • Demonstrated understanding of modern microservices architectures employed at web scale
  • Skills:
    • Demonstrated effective communications skills including presentation skills
    • Demonstrated understanding of DevOps principles and practices
  • Abilities:
    • Ability to operate customer facing production services at web scale, 24/7/365
    • Ability to plan, prioritize and organize effectively
    • Ability to analyze and resolve issues, both logical and interpersonal
  • Travel Ability:
    • Office environment. Some travel required
  • Schedule:
    • Full Time
    • This position is eligible for our Hybrid Work Policy. Eligible employees can work from home up to one day each week.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Knowledge of gitlab build, deployment and IaaC pipelines
    • Knowledge of billing and payment systems
    • Some knowledge of telecommunication/cable services or industry experience
    • 2+ years of Management or leadership experience

The base pay for this position generally is between
$98,900.00 and $175,300.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.
