Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product management to assess technical feasibility of projects and refine requirements. Explain and clarify requirements with the team.
  • Inform, advise, and build consensus with management and other stakeholders on technical projects, complex matters, and decisions.
  • Provide feedback to the data architect, helping design the big picture.
  • Conduct one on one meetings with team members, product and other internal stakeholders
  • Coordinate technical discussions and team retrospectives when needed.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership to data engineers and data scientist/analysts. Mentor and coach team members to enhance technical skills and capabilities. Coordinate development tasks. Pair with team members to work side by side when appropriate.
  • Work closely with data engineers, data scientists, and analysts to ensure seamless collaboration.
  • Lead the execution of data and analytics projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to specifications.
  • Interpret, administer, and participate in policies, processes, and procedures. Define, lead by example, and enforce coding standards, best practices, and quality assurance processes. Implement and document best practices for data storage, indexing, and query optimization. Create and maintain training documentation.
  • Evaluate and manage risk. Anticipate and influence business challenges. Escalate issues when appropriate. Recommend actions and improvements.
  • Incorporate continuous improvement concepts, systems and tools in daily work and helps coach others on those systems and tools.
  • Help establish and measure team KPIs.
  • Manage and assess technical debt, identify optimization for long-term.
  • Contribute to cloud engineering, data engineering, data analysis/exploration and dashboard creation.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • BS or BA degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in data, responsible for coding at least partially in the past year.
  • 2+ years as a tech lead or engineering manager.
  • Experience working with big data and analytics.
  • Experience building in AWS or other cloud provider.
  • 2+ years working with Apache Spark, Databricks experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of Python.
  • 2+ years working with a visualization tool, such as Preset, PowerBI or Tableau.
  • 2+ years working with Data Warehouses.
  • Strong history of leading teams successfully.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate with stakeholders creating compelling narratives, influencing decisions, managing conflict and building consensus.
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to balance hands-on technical contributions with leadership along with a clear sense of when to lead the team and when to follow.
  • The benefits of this position include group health insurance including medical, dental, vision, and ancillary plans. As well as 401k match, life insurance, long-term disability, and paid time off. Starting salary $125,000 + 25% based on skills and experience level. This position is eligible for an annual corporate bonus based on company and individual performance.
