Controller
Summary/Objective:
The Controller’s focus and responsibilities/accountabilities is management and oversight of accounting and finance functions of the company. The significant responsibilities/accountabilities are as follows: safeguard assets and assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal audits, controls and checks across all departments and manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, fixed asset records, and general & entity accounting.
The Controller will possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and have strong attention to details and internal controls. While working under specific timelines and guidelines, the Controller will need to have a positive attitude, a collaborating spirit, and the mindset to evaluate and improve processes and procedures to benefit not only Accounting but the effect on our clients.
Essential Functions:
· Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
· Oversee the operations of the accounting department
· Ensure that account reconciliations are completed accurately and completely
· Maintain the chart of accounts
· Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
· Issue timely and complete financial statements
· Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
· Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
· Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
Competency:
· At least 4 years of experience managing a team, with demonstrated coaching and mentoring abilities
· Strong leadership qualities with demonstrated abilities to assess needs, plan strategically and evaluate the success of projects
· Experience with NetSuite accounting software
· Driven and self-directed – ability to solve problems and to ask questions when you don’t have the answer.
Required Education & Experience:
· BS in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
· CPA, CMA or MBA preferred
· 6+ years of professional experience and are not afraid to roll up your sleeves.
