Training Content Developer

Position Description: As a member of the Content & Training Team, this position is responsible for working with the Content and Community Manager and Content Team Lead to design and develop e-learning courses to support EHS, HR, and F&I compliance products. This person must be a strong visual and verbal communicator. This person must also have excellent research skills, the ability to organize ideas, and the ability to translate technical terms into text, video, presentations, and web-based training that any person can understand. Deliverables must be appropriate for the targeted audience and follow e-learning best practices.
The Training Content Developer will:
1) Build interactive online training courses, training shorts, videos, illustrations, and other multimedia to engage learners about safety and compliance topics.
2) Synthesize technical content in a stimulating and effective manner.
3) Collaborate well, be able to take direction, and care about quality and accuracy.
In the first 30 days you will:
Learn more about KPA processes, procedures, and software through on-the-job training
Assist team members with current and ongoing projects
· Become aware of SCORM standard
In the first 60 days you will:
Own training projects from start to finish
Organize material and complete assignments according to set standards
Assist in content design and production tasks
In the first 90 days you will:
Complete deliverables to quarterly release timelines or update management on deviations to these estimates ahead of time
Make visible contributions to KPA training content releases
By the end of the first year you will:
Contribute appreciably to training content development efforts
Work with Content Team Lead to refine instructional design and development processes
Assist with the optimization of training and multimedia production tasks
Contribute to project scoping and labor estimates
Raise critical issues and risks that may impact the timeline or other project factors
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, communications design, or related field.
· 3+ years hands-on experience in instructional design, learning and development, communication design, multimedia, or training video production
· Solid knowledge of adult learning theory
· Ability to develop, process, format, and communicate technical and analytical information visually
· Strong proficiency with imaging, illustration, and video editing workflows in Adobe Creative Suite

Success Criteria:
· Creativity and flair for design, art, and technology (Candidates will be asked to provide examples of prior visual communication work and a writing sample.)
· Ability to contribute to storyboard and write scripts for training courses, including instructional videos and animations
· Stays up-to-date with instructional design trends and production best practices and is willing to try new ideas to design and produce better content
· Ability to quickly learn new software applications, such as Articulate 360, to accomplish production tasks
· Proven experience producing high quality technical illustrations a huge plus
· Average bowling score – 140 (to bring up the rest of the team)
