We are searching for a skilled writer who is eager to deeply explore innovative technology and launch our customers to rapid success using concise and easy-to-understand content. By digging in directly with the product and working with talented people across the organization, you will develop deep knowledge of the product and the problems it solves. Armed with that knowledge, you will create content for customers and refine it by gathering feedback from colleagues and customers. Ultimately you will publish your content as in-product help pages, release notes, sample and tutorial instructions, stand-alone guides, and internal reference documentation. Along the way, you will collaborate with the team to improve processes and develop new strategies for providing world-class assistance to JumpCloud users.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Producing in-depth online help and other documentation
  • Becoming a subject matter expert (SME) of an advanced, cloud-based IT tool
  • Learning by doing: interacting with the product directly, via both UI and API
  • Working with cross functional teams to understand and refine content
  • Using and contributing to templates, standards, and style guides
  • Participating in agile ceremonies with teams developing new features in order to identify and execute on documentation needs
  • Setting personal timelines and schedules to accommodate shifting priorities
  • Beginning to work on documentation outside of new development work, such as proofreading, revising, and rewriting existing documentation
  • Beginning to identify opportunities for additional content that will benefit users

What we’d love for you to have in order to be successful in this role:

  • A zeal for customer service and computer technology
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and concisely
  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Journalism or similar
  • 2+ years relevant work experience in the areas of technical marketing, product documentation, and technical writing, preferably in a cloud based enterprise software company
  • Expertise with basic documentation software, familiarity with basic HTML scripting
  • Ability to understand the core elements of the JumpCloud product well enough to represent the user
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Previous work experience as an IT Admin, SysAdmin, or Support Technician
  • Basic understanding of the following technologies would be ideal (Active Directory, LDAP, RADIUS, Single sign-on, Windows, macOS and Linux, screen capture software, help desk software)

If you don’t have these skills, but you’re a strong technical writer with a desire to learn, then we’re still happy to consider your application. But it’s important to know that this is a job that will require rigorous training and then clear communication in deeply technical subject matter such as authentication, system management, and networking.

Our HQ is located between Denver and Boulder. Since we're remote first with employees in most U.S. states and 14 countries, we use the office as a hub to bring people together for team events and meetings.
