The Principal Technical Writer is responsible for focusing on the creation and delivery of quality content for multiple audiences across multiple products, recommending project staffing, ensuring project deadlines are met, influencing the direction of technical content, and leading teams to drive initiatives. The ideal candidate coaches others in producing accurate content that complies with standards and is audience appropriate.

We are looking for a Principal Technical Writer to join our team of curious, confident individuals who thrive on tackling projects collaboratively in an Agile environment.

 

In this position, you will:

  • Drive content creation and management by partnering with stakeholders, customers, and Agile teams to research, design, create, test, curate, and deliver accurate, clear, and concise technical content for multiple products or product families that is appropriate for multiple audiences.
  • Function as a subject matter expert for products.
  • Utilize tools, systems, processes, and procedures to increase department and Agile team efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Leverage partnerships with other departments (such as Education, Marketing, Product Management) to understand and improve the customer's experience across multiple products or product lines.
  • Lead DocOps initiatives across multiple Agile teams.
  • Mentor teammates, coordinate the work of multiple IEs when assigned as team lead, and help others manage their work and meet milestones.
  • Be a role model for Agile team participation by actively participating in all aspects of Agile development, including ceremonies, planning, and end of sprint demos.

 

What experience do I need?

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in technical writing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • You have a minimum of seven years of experience writing and editing for a broad range of audiences ranging from non-technical to highly technical
  • You have experience working on multiple complex documentation projects in a fast-paced and collaborative Agile software development engineering environment
  • You demonstrate attention-to-detail with the ability to consistently produce clear, cohesive, comprehensive, and accurate high-quality content for the intended audience
  • You have strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and diplomacy skills with an ability to multitask and work across departments and divisional structure
  • You have an ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule to attend global meetings and to meet project deadlines
  • You have experience working within structured authoring and template-based authoring
  • You are self-motivated and focused with excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to continuously prioritize in a rapidly changing environment and the flexibility to work independently
  • You have an ability to mentor others and build relationships, persuade and influence individuals at all levels
