Alteryx is searching for a Manager, Technical Writing in Broomfield, CO.

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced documentation manager to join the talented Alteryx Technical Writing team. This role requires being a strong advocate for the team, highlighting the documentation that the team creates, and working collaboratively with multiple cross-functional teams. The team is responsible for producing high-quality release notes, in-application help and sample content, UI copy, and help content for all Alteryx products.

What you’ll do:

• Have a customer-first approach to documentation and ensure high quality of release notes, in-application help and sample content, UI copy, and help documentation. Respond to customer feedback on help documentation and escalate larger documentation requests as needed.
• Proactively communicate upcoming documentation initiatives with other teams, especially Customer Support and Marketing.
• Serve as an advocate for the team. Highlight the team’s work and increase the visibility of the team throughout the organization.
• Bring visibility to the team’s work and processes. This includes meeting with every new product employee to describe team deliverables and processes and presenting at on-boarding events and customer advisory panels.
• Meet regularly with each team member to ensure projects are running smoothly and help remove blockers as needed.
• Hire and onboard new writers and product content managers. Match the skill sets of team members to product areas and provide opportunities to enhance knowledge of our products.
• Escalate issues as needed to ensure each team member is able to write high-quality documentation and have it reviewed by SMEs on time prior to publication.
• Work directly with the localization program manager to ensure help documentation is translated for customers.
• Work closely with both the content management system and translation vendors to ensure projects are delivered on time and issues are resolved.

Required Skills:

• Experience creating and delivering complex documentation in both cloud and on-premises environments.
• Experience as a Technical Writer in SaaS/Software.
• Experience managing multiple writers and content creators working on multiple product lines.
• Familiarity with the translation process for documentation. Alteryx help documentation and in-application/sample content is translated into seven languages.
• Ability to collaborate with many levels of the organization, including Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Customer Support.
• Demonstrated ability to drive and deliver documentation initiatives across engineering and product.
• Experience working with writers in multiple time zones and different cultures. Several of our team members are located in the Czech Republic.
• Familiar with the concepts of agile software development.

Valued Skills:

• Familiar with Gitlab, Madcap Flare, Drupal, Smartsheet, Jira, and/or SDL Translation Services.

Compensation:

Alteryx is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role is $101,700 - $172,900 located in Broomfield, CO. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. 

This role is eligible for variable compensation including bonus and stock grants.
