This role, reporting into the Head of External Affairs and Public Impact, will lead efforts to create compelling content and insights that engage stakeholders and position Western Union as a thought leader. This includes drafting bylines, speeches, and other related content for executives, working with internal data and analytics team and external vendors to identify, gather and position compelling data-driven insights, identifying external research that aligns or enhances content, and collaborating with the communications teams and public policy on dissemination strategies.

In this role you will actively challenge the status quo around content development and champion new uses of data/insights. This includes being accountable for the planning and development of thought leadership, knowledge management of existing and new content, identifying new channels to reach broadest set of influencers and stakeholders, and evaluating and improving dissemination strategies.

You will oversee large scale initiatives and research projects, taking into consideration the needs and interests of key external stakeholders and customers along with an eye towards broader corporate opportunities.

For this role you will be skilled in creating great content and able to discern what will be most compelling to a given audience. This includes being able to consume qualitative and quantitative data to identify compelling trends and insights. You will be a self-motivated, quick learner who also has success working collaboratively and is able to balance and prioritize needs of multiple stakeholders, while managing to deadlines. You will be naturally curious about corporate social responsibility, financial inclusion, tech for good and data science for social impact and passionate about the role the private sector can play as a force for good in society.

You will need 5-7 years of experience in marketing, public relations, market research and/or corporate communications, notably writing executive-level content (speeches, bylines, messages, etc). Experience working in a think tank, government or NGO focused on migration, foreign affairs or social impact issues preferred. Bachelor Degree in communications, foreign affairs, economics or related field required, Masters degree a plus.

Annual base salary gross: $81,201-143,043. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the Western Union salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role. The base salary is one component of Western Union’s total compensation package for employees.
