As a technical writer, you will transform in-depth, technical product information, security recommendations, and threat detections into engaging and strategic content that supports our demand generation strategy, product marketing, website and blog. Red Canary is recognized for providing some of the most educational, high quality content in the security industry. You will be critical in helping us to uphold that reputation.
Who You Are
You live and breathe information security and can rattle off the best twitter accounts, podcasts, products, analysts, memes, and more. You have a deep understanding of and keep current with the information security industry, including competitors, influencers, trends, and hot topics. In a previous role you may have even fought for an IT budget or run a security awareness program.
You know the importance of and care deeply about information security and are compelled to share your knowledge with the world by:
- Helping to define, research, and create core content assets including blogs, technical how-to articles, threat detection write-ups, webinar slides, product and website copy, and best practice guides/whitepapers
- Supporting the marketing team with content needs such as thought leadership, emails, landing pages, sales collateral, case studies, press releases, and other communications as needed
- Writing, reviewing, and editing content in collaboration with other content contributors and Sr. Content Marketing Manager
- Ensuring technical accuracy, quality, readability, and consistency across all content
- Repurposing existing assets into new materials to extend their reach and impact
- Being a liaison between the marketing, Cyber Incident Response Team (CIRT), product, and sales teams
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years in a technical information security role or a minimum of 5 years of product marketing, content marketing, or technical writing within information security
- Degree in English, Technical Writing, Computer Science, or a related field or experience
- Experience working directly with or on technical teams
- Ability to understand technical details within the mindset of product features and capabilities to create narratives that engage prospects and customers and facilitate conversations
- Experience writing for B2B audiences—specifically C-Level and decision makers, as well as highly technical audiences, such as security practitioners
Preferred Qualification:
- Experience writing to maximize SEO performance
- Experience with editing and publishing content in Wordpress
- Experience editing or creating videos
- Ability to write example code in Ruby or Python
