BI / Big Data Analyst

Job Description:

The Business Intelligence / Big Data Analyst is responsible for the following:

  • Collect and organize large-scale data sets to analyze and describe business processes and practices
  • Identify use cases in which the business can be improved or advanced through the application of data science principles
  • Drive proof of concept and prototyping initiatives to demonstrate value and quantify ROI for proposed solutions
  • Study existing Business Intelligence solutions for opportunities to extend/enhance capabilities through advanced analytics and visualization techniques
  • Mine, cleanse and organize data to produce executive reporting and KPIs
  • Work closely with management to prioritize business and information needs
  • Present proposals, findings and results to leadership as required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills Required

The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following skills:

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • SQL proficiency with experience in constructing/deconstructing complex reports and queries
  • Hands-on experience with common programming languages (R, Python, Scala, etc.)
  • Strong business acumen with ability to develop cross-discipline subject matter expertise
  • In depth understanding of time series and regression analysis techniques and application
  • Solid mathematical foundation including applied probability and statistics
  • Knowledge of and experience with standardized reporting packages (OBIEE, QlikView, PowerBI, etc.), ETL tools (Informatica, ODI, SSIS, etc.), databases (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.) and Big Data ecosystems (Hadoop, Spark, etc.)
  • Baseline exposure to advanced areas such as AI, Machine Learning, Predictive/Prescriptive Analytics, etc.
  • Excellent written, verbal and professional communication skills

Preferred skills

  • Demonstrated experience designing/delivering Machine Learning and advanced analytics models to address business use cases
  • Experience with project management concepts and principles
  • Familiarity with supply chain and distribution industries

5+ years of experience across the Business Intelligence and Big Data spaces

Our offices are approximately 15 miles south of Downtown Denver. Employees enjoy the easy access to the light rail station and I-25.
