Welcome to Built In Denver:

The Denver startup community is thriving – and we are excited to launch in partnership with the community a resource that will showcase all the great activity that is happening in the City.

If you are reading this post, then congratulations, you are likely one of the first members of the new Built In Denver site.

We're thrilled you have chosen to build and support, Denver's amazing digital technology community.  Whether you are an entrepreneur, investor, academic, civic leader, student or business professional who supports digital technology, welcome and we hope you spend some time on the site exploring, contributing and connecting (read Getting Started below).

How We Got Here

In 2012, one of the Startup Colorado Mile High Region initiatives was to create an online “container” for the Denver startup community.  A place that would facilitate interaction and connections, promote companies and their products, and be a record for the awesome activity that Denver is producing.  Built In Denver is that platform and is just that: Exclusively for Denver, led by Denver entrepreneurs.  We hope that it becomes a catalyst for the community and an engine that helps amplify the Denver digital community.

Built In Denver is a platform to connect, educate and promote digital (read: web and mobile based businesses) entrepreneurs in Denver. An already proven model in Chicago (aka Built In Chicago), the site is now expanding into other markets, Denver being the first outside of Chicago.

Getting Started on Built In Denver

1. Sign up. It’s FREE! Then complete your profile so you are included in all weekly emails and announcements moving forward (i.e. upload a profile picture, tell us where you work, link to your social media accounts, etc).

2. Post a blog.  Share your exciting news and/or lessons learned - there are no rules except that you are honest and respectful.  Remember, this is a peer-to-peer platform for the purpose of helping one another build better companies and the community and making Denver the next digital technology hub (example topics include: startup launch, funding announcement, awards or recognition, experience with an accelerator or incubator, experience at Denver startup week, mentor meeting and what you learned, etc.).

3. Add your upcoming event.   Built In Denver has a great community calendar to aggregate everything digital in the City.  Let’s work to have one central hub for all Digital Tech events in Denver.

4. Add /Claim Your Company In The Directory.  Are you in the directory?  Great, be sure to claim your page and keep your information updated as this data will feed our quarterly reports to press outlets.

5. Post A Job.  Have a job opening? For the first 90 days the job board is free using the discount code, "WeAreDenver". Happy hiring!

6. Tell A Friend.  This is where the friendly competition begins.  Let's see which company can get the most employees on the site in the next 30 days.  The winning company will receive a feature on the Built In Denver site and some other prizes we have up our sleeve!

Thank You To The Digital Leaders of Denver

Finally, a huge thank you to the 100+ senior digital leaders who attended the Kick-Off Luncheon on Friday, October 26th and committed to investing in the next generation of entrepreneurs by supporting Built In Denver.  Attendees included Tom Higley, Jim Deters and Nancy Phillips, all of whom are part of the initial Built In Denver Advisory Board.

I hope you will join me in supporting the site and encouraging all of your colleagues, employees and investors to sign up.

Let's Build A Better Denver!
