Denver-based RavenWindow provides smart windows for UC Davis Solar-Powered Home

Oct. 5-9 and 12-15, the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon returned to Denver. The collegiate competition challenges student teams to design and build full-sized solar-powered houses, and RavenWindow is proud to support the UC Davis team as they strived to supplement energy-efficient technologies in their design, Our H2OUSE.

By installing RavenWindow’s Gen3 thermochromic smart window technology in the JeldWen manufactured windows of Our H2OUSE, the UC Davis team aimed to improve occupant health and productivity.

“RavenWindow’s transitioning technology is a natural fit for instances like the Solar Decathlon,” says RavenWindow Sales & Marketing Coordinator, Sarah Read. “They contribute significantly to home efficiency in a ‘set and forget’ manner without compromising the design of the home or the view from within.”

Open to the public, community members were encouraged to tour the team houses to witness how easy it is to save energy, water and money by making smart, sustainable choices in your own home. A winner was selected based on best blend of design excellence and smart energy production as well as innovation, market potential and energy and water efficiency.
