Things have been busy for luxury getaway planner Inspirato—and not just because it’s vacation season.

Inspirato, a four-year-old Denver-based vacation company that offers its members private residences in nearly 60 locations ranging from Colorado's Steamboat Springs to St. John in the Virgin Islands, announced 14 new sites in April and then 17 more in July. It has expanded options for members to attend the Grand Prix or the Golden Globes in style this year, opening up a whole new luxury niche for the company.

This comes just a year after the club officially partnered with American Express in a bid to raise Inspirato’s profile with potential customers and accelerate the company’s growth. Then, in a much-anticipated move, Inspirato and fellow Denver-based luxury vacation company Portico Club merged under the Inspirato name last December.

CEO and co-founder Brent Handler got the idea for Inspirato after seeing some of the issues with renting in the luxury travel industry as the founder of Exclusive Resorts several years ago.

“From that experience, I knew exactly what people did and didn’t want when it came to this industry. A lot of the problems arose form the company buying vacation homes to rent; I figured out that we could get the same experience and benefit without having to own the homes,” he said last year. “So we lease the homes that we work with, which means that we are able to offer the same service and experience at 97 percent less cost. That enabled us to grow quickly.”

Grow quickly, indeed. The team is nearly topping 200 people, up from about 150 last year. Get to know the Inspirato team as you tour the company’s LoDo headquarters and get to hang with other Coloradan techies at Built In Brews this Thursday, July 31. Register here.
