'Tis the season for giving back and Colorado startups are getting in on the action. These 4 Colorado tech companies shared with us how they are helping others this year, and even provided us with some amazing photos.

iTriage

iTriage focused on the community this holiday season. For Thanksgiving they hosted a canned food drive for the Denver Rescue Mission and a virtual food drive for the Food Bank of the Rockies. Manny Segarra led the canned food drive and donated prizes for participants. The Denver Rescue Mission is a group close to his heart. He said, "The Denver Rescue Mission is so important to me because they see every life as valuable. Society often blames people for their situation, without knowing the facts. It's easier to generalize poor/street people, than to engage and understand them. Food, shelter are basic human needs and the Rescue Mission is committed to this very fundamental need."

For one day in December, we encouraged everyone in our offices to "pay" for all the benefits that they normally get for free in the office. Coffee, soda, snacks, and especially lunch. We took all the money we collected from this, matched it, and donated to local food oriented charities.

Right now, we try and donate any significant leftovers from our catered lunches to the homeless shelter behind our office. The company spends a lot of money ordering groceries, providing coffee and drinks, and getting catered lunch every day, that often times take advantage of all of the free food. This will allow everyone to not only realize how much money goes towards food per day, but allows us to provide the money for a days worth of food plus the companies match to a local organization. We are looking forward to providing donations towards the less fortunate just before the holidays get into full swing.

Sovrn

Sovrn hosted a Holiday Gather & Give Party on Dec. 17 at their Boulder headquarters. The event hosted anyone in the Boulder startup community interesting in mingling and networking. Guest brought cash donations, new (unwrapped and unopened) toys, and canned/non-perishable food items. All money and items were donated to local organizations: Toys For Tots, Boulder Humane Society, and EFAA (Emergency Family Assistance Association). Food and drink were also provided. The sovrn Holiday Gather and Give is a great chance for anyone in the Boulder Startup Community to come together and give back to the community that has given us all so much.
