Who said startups get to have all the fun?

Real-estate logistics provider Prologis and Arrow Electronics, a company that supplies computing solutions, prove that innovation can come from companies founded before the internet was popular.

These two companies, founded in 1983 and 1935, respectively, have spent the last few years expanding their global reach through acquisitions, funding and billion-dollar annual sales.

Of course, with great power comes great responsibility. Below, read how these growing companies are giving back through sustainability efforts and ventilator production consortiums.

What they do: Prologis is a real-estate logistics provider that leases modern distribution facilities to more than 5,200 customers. The company’s work spans 19 countries and four continents.

Perks and benefits: Leading businesses know that establishing positive work-life balance results in happier, more productive employees. Flexible scheduling, family medical leave and adoption assistance allow employees to be parents first when it matters.

Financial news: Prologis has raised a total of $10.5 billion across three funds, their latest being Prologis China Core Logistics Fund. This funding was announced on December 4, 2019, and raised a total of $1.7 billion and will be used to invest in operating logistics properties in target markets in China.

Since its inception in 1983, the company has acquired four organizations. Their most recent acquisition was Liberty Property Trust in October 2019 for $12.6 billion.

Staying green: Prologis has been recognized 11 times in the Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations index from Corporate Knights. According to IT Applications Manager Liz Hauswirth in a recent Built In article, the company has also been on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index 12 years in a row. The company has more than 456 cumulative sustainable buildings totaling 169 million square feet in 18 countries. “We are the global leader for sustainability in real estate,” Hauswirth said.

Hiring: Along with growing their finance and human resource teams, Prologis is also looking for talented interns.

What they do: Founded in 1935, Arrow Electronics supplies electronic component products and computing solutions to more than 80 countries. They partner with over 900 suppliers and 125,000 original equipment manufacturers, contract manufacturers and commercial customers to develop business solutions.

Perks and benefits: Like most Colorado offices, the Centennial-based branch hosts plenty of opportunities to get physical. When safely in the office, expect fitness and yoga classes to prevent the afternoon slump. Race sponsorships also keep employees fast on their feet.

For professional development, Arrow offers lunch and learns, job training and conferences to encourage internal promotions.

Financial news: Arrow Electronics has acquired 45 organizations. Their most recent acquisition was eInfochips, a provider of product engineering and semiconductor design services in January 2018. In 2019, the company hit more than $29 billion in sales.

Vroom, vroom: In December 2020, McLaren Racing announced an extension of its multi-year Formula One partnership with Arrow Electronics. Earlier this year, Arrow Electronics’s electronic supply chain enabled McLaren, in participation with VentilatorChallengeUK, to produce and deliver more than 13,000 medical ventilators — the result of 10 years of ventilator production in 10 weeks — to treat patients with COVID-19.

“We look forward to taking our partnership with McLaren to the next level in and outside the car. Our close collaboration is fueled by our shared belief in the power of technology and the human spirit to the improvement of everyday life,” Victor Gao, CMO, said in a recent press release.

Hiring: The company has dozens of open roles, including positions in its DevOps and finance departments.
