A lot of professional development can happen in a year. For Lindsey Bond, a product manager at directory platform JumpCloud, the past 11 months have been intense, fast-paced and challenging. But she wouldn’t have it any other way.

“There is a lot of support, collaboration and mentorship to help you every step of the way. The organization is invested in your growth,” Bond said.

According to statistics, 94 percent of employees stay at their organization longer when they feel like the company invests in their professional development. Below, employees from the following four Colorado companies describe their strong company cultures and support their professional growth.

gospotcheck
GoSpotCheck

What GoSpotCheck does: GoSpotCheck’s mobile software allows field teams to perform more efficiently and productively. Instead of writing notes on a clipboard at a jobsite and uploading them to the system later, web-based analytics and reporting dashboards allow field teams to enter data on-the-spot, and grant leadership access to overall visibility for quick decision-making.

GoSpotCheck’s culture in one word: Humble.

What “company culture” means at GoSpotCheck: “GoSpotCheck employs some of the smartest, most results-driven people that I have ever worked with,” said Senior QA Engineer Rebecca Mayes. “But you might never know this by working with them because they are so open to teaching what they know and learning new, better ways to do things. We routinely have complex, difficult stories in sprints that are completed with ease.”

Collaboration is a key part of the culture.”

How long have you been with the company, and what professional growth or development have you seen in that time?

“I have been with GoSpotCheck for three years,” Mayes said. “Collaboration is a key part of the culture. I was able to do a project with DevOps to move our web application release process toward continuous deployment using CircleCI, Harness and various APIs. People are encouraged to take ownership of anything they feel passionate about. During my time here, I’ve learned several new languages for test automation and received the support to speak on QA topics inside and outside of the company.”

webroot
Webroot

What Webroot does: Webroot’s mission is to secure businesses and individuals worldwide with cyber threat intelligence and protection over their endpoints and networks. The company, which lives under the OpenText umbrella, harnesses the cloud and utilizes AI to stop security threats in real time.

Describe Webroot’s culture in one word: Passionate.

What “company culture” means at Webroot: “Whether protecting customer data, preventing cyberattacks or just growing in our individual skill sets, I feel the employees of OpenText, our parent company, bring passion to what they do daily,” Senior Product Marketing Manager Holly Spiers said.

“From this passion comes strong opinions, strong work ethic and strong desire to put forth our best each and every day.

Recently, my team needed to advise another department on a new project that would take a significant amount of time and resources. We discussed how we could best help, approach some of the areas differently given our individual experiences, and contribute meaningfully to the desired outcome. We jumped in to contribute to the greater good because we believe in what we are trying to accomplish.”

What’s the most interesting project you've worked on recently, and how did it help you grow professionally?

“I recently worked on launching a new service within our threat intelligence portfolio called Domain Safety Score,” Spiers said. “The Domain Safety Score addresses visibility issues created by HTTPS protocols that have led to unsafe or malicious content hiding on benign domains. This service is one that many other security providers haven’t tackled yet.

Part of my job was talking with customers about their challenges, their needs and how they want to partner with us. These conversations are a great way for me to learn and grow in my role because they help me stay connected with our customer base and challenge me to think about how I position our products to resonate with the market.”
