Left Hand Robotics raised $3.6 million in new funding to bring its self-driving snow plow and lawn mower to market. Based in Longmont, the company’s robot uses GPS RTK technologies to shovel or mow a pre-programmed path. Left Hand Robotics began selling its robot earlier this month, and plans to continue marketing it to universities and municipalities. [Built In Colorado]

Palo Alto-based software company VMware acquired Carbon Black on Monday in an all cash transaction valued at $2.1 billion. Founded in 2002, Carbon Black is a Boulder-based company that provides a cloud security platform. The deal, which is expected to close in 2020, will allow VMware to incorporate Carbon Black’s security platform with its software offerings. [FinSMEs]  

CirrusMD added to its executive team bringing on Justin Chang, MD, as its VP of the Provider Network, and Julie Kopp as VP of Product. Founded in 2012, the company provides a virtual care platform that allows patients to connect with doctors. Chang will lead the company’s provider network, while Kopp will work to continue evolving the patient experience with AI. Cirrus MD recently raised $15 million in May. [Innovation News]     


Cloud robotics is poised to be the next, booming frontier of artificial intelligence, according to a new report from Boulder-based research firm Tractica. The research indicated that cloud robotics will increase from a $5.3 billion market to a $170.4 billion market by 2025. The field of cloud robotics involves operating robotics via cloud computing and teleoperation. [Innovation News]
