SendGrid announces $2B acquisition by San Fran-based Twilio

On Monday, nearly a year after its debut on the New York Stock Exchange, SendGrid announced it will be acquired by San Francisco-based Twilio in a deal valued around $2 billion. The acquisition will help expand Twilio’s API capabilities to encompass a broader spectrum of digital communications, namely email. Twilio CEO Jeff Lawson confirmed in a conference call with press this week that SendGrid will continue to operate as an independent unit here in Colorado, with CEO Sameer Dholakia at the helm. BillGO acquires bill-tracking application Prism

B2B payment processing startup BillGO announced Tuesday the acquisition of Redmond, WA-based Prism, which provides a mobile app to help people track, manage and pay their monthly bills. The company’s existing network of more than 11,000 billers will greatly expand BillGO’s customer base and enable the Fort Collins-based startup to provide more options to current and future customers. ANGI Homeservices to buy NY-based Handy

ANGI Homeservices, the parent company of HomeAdvisor and Angie’s List, announced plans to buy the New York-based startup Handy, whose app lets people book appointments on-demand with homeservices professionals and cleaners, shop online for home goods and even hire professionals to install or assemble the goods they purchase. The acquisition will enable ANGI Homeservices to expand its offerings from repairs and renovations for homeowners to smaller tasks that appeal to millennial renters, who are quickly emerging as the biggest group of homebuyers in the country. GHX expands leadership team

Healthcare business and data automation company GHX added two new leaders to its team this week, bringing on Bob McCarthy as the new senior vice president of strategy and corporate development, and Laura Dunbar as the new senior vice president of global marketing. McCarthy most recently led corporate development for Broomfield-based Level 3 Communications and brings more than 20 years of experience leading corporate development and strategy teams. Dunbar, who previously served as VP of marketing for healthtech company GetWellNetwork, will lead the global marketing team at GHX, leveraging both her technology and healthcare background.
