5 Colorado companies bringing us closer to a connected world

While we may not have flying cars or hoverboards yet, tech has advanced to a point where the everyday items around us have the capability of connecting to the internet — and all the information it has to offer. Here are 5 Colorado companies blending hardware and software to bring us a more connected world.

Boulder-based ēdn’s smart gardens attach to walls inside your house. They’re equipped with wifi, measuring and managing lighting based on which plants you’re growing so even people lacking a green thumb can have some greenery in their homes.

DripJoy’s single-serve coffee maker keeps track of how often you and your team are brewing cups of coffee. Then it feeds that information to an algorithm, which figures out how much coffee to reorder — and when to send it. No more frazzled office managers facing off against caffeine-deprived employees.

Alchemy

Working with manufacturing and fleet management companies, Alchemy's IoT platform helps their clients make sense of the data their connected sensors are gathering at all times. This means things like equipment status, efficiency tracking and automated work orders.

Revolar manufactures a connected device that can attach to keychains, bags or even clothes. Designed to keep you safe, users can pre-program emergency contacts who can be notified if the wearer feels unsafe.

They don't actually build anything themselves, but we'd be remiss not to tip our hats to the epicenter of Colorado's IoT community. Part of the Innovation Pavillion in Centennial, TechrIoT is Colorado’s IoT ecosystem. They host events, have resources for founders and even run their own accelerator called TechrIoT XLR8.
