8 Colorado tech gifts on our wish list this year (that you may want to add to yours)

The holidays are upon us. And while I’m currently in the process of downsizing, there are still some pretty amazing products and experiences I want from Colorado tech. Instead of doing the same ol’, same ol’ gift guide of years past, I’m indulging myself with a Colorado tech wish list instead.

Some serious bedroom design help

Though it’s gotten better in the last few months, I’ll admit my bedroom isn’t nearly as cute as the rest of the house. The walls are bare (with the exception of my prized “Treat yo’self” framed print), I still don’t have a dresser and my nightstands don’t match. (Insert sad trombone.) But I’m pretty sure if the designers at Havenly worked their magic on my room, I’d never get out of bed.

My very own BB-8

Okay, so I know Sphero’s BB-8 is technically a toy made for kids. But… look at it. It’s adorable. We could race it around my house or the park, or create little challenges for BB-8 to complete. The only thing that would make having my very own BB-8 better would be if I had a Frenchie who’d chase it around the room.

Some at-home zen time

Don’t get me wrong, I love doing yoga with a group. But sometimes I want to go with my own flow, or even have a more spiritually-focused class. Aside from shelling out hundreds of bucks a month at a tiny studio in Cap Hill, I figure a Gaia subscription could make my basement “meditation room, ” a.k.a. a sad, empty room with an unfurled yoga mat and some candles, more of a mindful place. Their yoga videos range from fitness and Pilates to a chakra-based practice, and if I’m feeling more like exploring new concepts, I’d be able to check out their other videos, like their “personal development” section.  (And, on second thought, maybe Havenly could tackle my basement, too.)

This not-so-ugly ugly sweater

Ugly sweater parties are usually the highlight of the holiday season for me, but I’ve never wanted to spend money on something I’m only going to wear a couple of times a year. This “ugly sweater” from Boulder’s Shinesty is actually not that ugly, and I could totally see myself wearing it at both a party and curled up with a hot toddy, reading a book while the snow comes down outside.

Some sweet treats

I know summer bodies are made in December, but I’ve also got one hell of a sweet tooth, and Sugarwish is sure to deliver on it. It’s the perfect gift because the giver decides how much candy to send and then the recipient gets to pick the delicious delights themselves. Then Sugarwish wraps everything up in a pretty box and sends it to my doorstep.

This Wash Park scarf

For the last couple of years, I’ve lived in Wash Park, and I’m head-over-heels with this ‘hood. From the bungalows to the boathouse, it’s a great place to live. That’s why I’m stoked Denver blog Go Play Denver and e-commerce startup Knotty Tie Co. have teamed up to create products inspired by different Denver neighborhoods. So far they’ve got Cap Hill, Wash Park and Five Points, and all three designs are just dreamy.

Psychic lesson with tarot readings

I don’t fully subscribe to psychics and fortune telling, but I’m known to love me some tarot, and it’d be a fun experience to get a reading by a pro. This lesson and reading comes via Utivity, a startup that’s created a marketplace where pros from all fields can offer lessons or services.

New business cards

MOO’s been my go-to for business cards for the last who knows how long, but my supply’s running low… and I just discovered their collection of products with gold leaf accents, and, wow. Talk about making a strong first impression. Plus, I still don’t have Built In Colorado business cards (wink, nudge) so I think the gold accents will make up for the time spent waiting.

A guided scooter tour of Denver

Even though I grew up in Colorado and spend every other weekend exploring Denver, I’m still always discovering something new about the city. This gift from Wishlist would let me learn more about Denver’s history, architecture and more as I zip around on a Vespa, which is also something I’ve always wanted to do. One gift, two checkmarks off the bucket list.
