Happy No Shave November: The best beards of Colorado tech

by Anthony Sodd
October 29, 2015

The days are growing shorter, the leaves are beginning to fall, and the air has a newfound briskness. All this could only add up to one thing: It’s beard growing season in Colorado. November, which in some circles is better known as Movember or No Shave November, is right around the corner and thousands of techies are about to give up their razors. To help them find some beardspiration, we caught up with 5 of Colorado tech's top beardsmiths to see how they rock their facial hair. Check it out:

Chris Frank, Head of Growth at Schoolrunner

Chris went with a professional look that ends up both being rustic and infinitely office appropriate. That's the sort of beard you could easily wear in the boardroom or the slopes. Since we cropped a woman out of the photo he sent us, we can only assume that the look is popular with the ladies.

Dave Mayer, Founder and CEO at Technical Integrity

Dave always wears a beard, and he goes with a similar approach to Chris. His beard is short, well maintained and keeps him looking professional, yet rustic. It's a long way from the hipster/living under a bridge look, but also a long way from clean shaven. If you're heading into a professional setting every day, drop the razor and pick up some trimmers.

Scott McDonald, CEO and Co-Founder at Lumenati

Scott doesn't play around, and sports a full on mountain man beard. It might not be welcome in all office settings, but if you can get away with it, we fully believe everybody should grow a big, bushy mountain man beard at least once in their lives. We also firmly believe that everybody should have at least one t-shirt with their own face on it.

Gavin Matthews, Marketing Director at CommercialTribe

Gavin also goes with a long, full beard and is living proof that if you keep your beard well maintained, you can embrace your inner lumberjack in a professional office setting. Keeping those stray hairs trimmed can go a long way to keeping a big beard office appropriate. Do it right, and you'll look like a complete badass both in the office and on top of Mt. Harvard.

Eric D. Lough, Founder of Famous Beard Oil Co.

As Founder of the Famous Beard Oil Company, Eric is a beard professional and it shows. Eric rocks a beard that a Russian czar would be proud of, and we can only assume that his signature oil has something to do with it.
