Technology jobs are enviable – they're full of perks and positions that make a difference. In his State of the Union Address earlier this week, President Obama said: “21st century businesses will rely on American science, technology, research and development.” At Built In Colorado, we know its best to get on the ground early. If you're unemployed or looking to make a switch, check out the top seven Colorado tech companies hiring below. You’ll find details on who they are, what they're hiring for and what makes them awesome. What you won’t find here – any boring cubicle jobs.

The on-demand market research company GutCheck prides itself on fast work and great insight. They use cloud-based research solutions for well-known consumer brands.

Why it’s Cool: The company is tripling its employee base and expanding globally, so now is a great time to get in. One study they conducted last year: which of five action movie trailers were most likely to get viewers in the seats. (Watching movie trailers at work? Score).

Best Benefit: Choice of a Mac or PC laptop

Coolest Open Position: With eight open positions, the Director of Online Research Strategy sounds like an exciting way to spend your day.

While the VIPER division in Comcast might sound like a team out of a Marvel comic book, it’s actually their Video IP Engineering and Research team that acts as a startup division within the larger company.  The growing but nimble team, heavy on engineers, takes on live video over a number of different platforms.

Why it’s Cool: This team writes the software that delivers live and on-demand video for XfinityTV, meaning employees have a chance to work with all different types of device and their native languages.

Best Benefit: Free Comcast cable and internet.

Coolest Open Position: VIPER has 10 open positions listed on Built In Colorado, but the one that stood out the most: Analyst, VIPER Big Data team. As the country’s largest cable and internet service provider, we can just imagine the insights this position could gleam.

Based in Denver, SpotXchange is the world’s largest marketplace for video ad inventory, reaching more than 100 countries each month and hosting more than 2 billion video auctions per day.

Why it’s Cool:  Mobile advertising is taking off big-time, but the marketplace for it is just emerging. Be part of the leading company that makes advertising fun, not annoying.

Best Benefit: Unlimited paid time off

Coolest Open Position: With four types of roles open on our site (equating to 22 positions), the mobile developer position looks like the most fun. This position will bring the company’s ad technology to mobile devices.

As one of Denver’s best success stories and Techstars graduates, SendGrid sells itself as a “mail server built for developers by developers.”

Why it’s Cool: A fast growing company with big name clients, SendGrid oozes cool. Join the team that is rewriting how emails get sent and taking on bigger and bigger clients.

Best Benefit: Free lunches, ski passes and Kindles

Coolest Open Position: With 15 open positions in Colorado (and many more nationwide), there’s plenty of opportunity here. But not everyone who works at a tech startup needs to write code, that’s why the Sr. Manager of People position looks so interesting – work with tech, understand it, but keep the company and employees moving in the right direction.

Zen Planner

Based in Highlands Ranch, Zen Planner helps fitness enthusiasts turn their hobby into a job and boosts the productivity and profits of established companies.

Why it’s Cool: Too often, technology takes the place of old-fashioned, outdoor fun. Zen Planner helps sports-based businesses grow. It’s an office job that loves seeing its staff sweating from physical activity, not from stress at work.

Best Benefit: Paid time off for volunteering and tuition reimbursement for fitness certification

Coolest Open Position: With two positions listed online, the Senior UX/UI Designer sounds like a blast. Help improve the company’s all-in-one software, making it even easier for customers to use.

Hackers are everywhere, so every company – from mom and pop shops to multinational corporations – needs help staying secure. LogRythm helps protect their customers and in turn, everyday people.

Why it’s Cool: LogRythm is the largest Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) provider in the world, with office all over. Employees love helping others (“solving crime” and “fighting the good fight”) and find their work rewarding.

Best Benefit: Free lunch Friday and a casual office environment

Coolest Open Position: Topping our list with more than 40 open positions, the Senior Security Consultant sounds like a crime-fighting, tech superhero.

CA Technologies

From its office in Colorado Springs, Fort Collins and Englewood, CA Technologies develops software for businesses. The company works across devices and platforms, giving employees plenty of opportunity to explore.

Why it’s Cool: The company wants innovative, entrepreneurial employees. They keep the startup attitude, but have a global footprint.

Best Benefit: Adoption assistance

Coolest Open Position: Helping innovate is a job at CA Technologies, and while the company has six posted on Built In Colorado, the one that stuck out the most was the Principal Agile Coach.
