The Role

The primary responsibility of the Senior Platform Engineer, Cloud Platform is to provide technical leadership and engineering oversight over the cloud infrastructure required for the Cloud Applications and Data Platform teams. This includes architecture design, development, capacity and performance planning, day-to-day operations, documentation of deployed frameworks and ongoing evaluations of core technologies for these areas. Lead efforts cross-functionally with the Cloud Applications and Data Platform teams in adhering to standards and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Research and ensure the strategic alignment of implementation plans and configurations of new and existing technologies within Azure, AWS, and Hybrid Cloud environments (ControlPlane.com)
• Support day-to-day operations support and scripting for system while developing Infrastructure as Code
• Lead cross-functional meetings with Cloud Applications and Data Platform teams
• Research, architect, and design systems and infrastructures that support scaling cloud-based software to 100,000s of requests/second from internet-connected robots
• Responsible for training and providing technical guidance to team members and development users on tooling and processes
• Work with fellow platform engineers to build out automation, CI/CD pipelines, and release systems that support the hosting and operations of cloud-based software systems
• Lead and manage external vendor relationships for cloud and hybrid cloud systems
• Build and support reliability and monitoring systems

Required Qualifications

• Hands on experience with cloud platforms Azure, AWS, and/or GCP
• 10+ years experience working in a hands on engineering role designing and implementing distributed systems (cloud, analytics, big data)
• Experience with IaaC, Terraform, and/or Pulumi
• Strong knowledge of Dev/Ops technologies and processes related to cloud-based SDLC
• Proven communication skills to provide engineering recommendations to management, architects, and developers
• Strong working knowledge of Linux
• Strong experience with Docker, Kubernetes
• Scripting experience in Python, Rust, Bash, or similar

Ideal Qualifications

• Familiarity with information security, SOC2 compliance, and data privacy laws
• Azure/AWS certifications
• Experience with implementing and supporting hybrid cloud environments
• Scaling PostgreSQL, Redis, and multi-modal database systems
• Experience with serverless cloud infrastructure
