- Building an engineering shop that’s admired by engineers everywhere
- Enables engineers under your management to achieve things they didn’t think possible
- Instiller of operational thinking: software that is not merely expedient to write but designed to be performant and instrumentable
- Know when to concede and when to stand your ground in the inevitable tug-of-war between refactoring and features
- Building a deep, trusting relationship with the head of Product to ship software that transforms lives
- Can still get your hands on the keyboard and code alone or in a pair
- Comfortable with ultimate accountability within engineering, including but not limited to speed of delivery and quality of software
