Havenly is looking for a VP of Engineering; a leader, someone who will oversee the engineering organization and help evolve the Havenly product and service, while keeping the team productive, happy, and engaged. This person will not only inspire the team, but also the entire community of Havenly users, carrying us through the technical challenges, and opportunities as we become the first place that real people go when to decorate their homes. You will get to lead a team of world-class engineers who are working hard and moving fast to solve interesting problems and create success. Our ideal candidate isn’t afraid to code up a feature or fix a bug from time to time but is primarily focused on growing and developing our team and product.

What You’ll Do:

• Help drive technical, architectural, and organizational decisions, to ensure that we build a scalable, efficient, and maintainable infrastructure.
• Implement and evolve the day to day engineering processes through best practices, coding guidelines, and design documents.
• Drive developer productivity and solve issues standing in their way.
• Provide technical leadership to the development team.
• Work closely with the CTO to set technical direction and translate business priorities into technical agenda.
• Regularly evaluate and provide feedback and mentorship to engineers.
• Optimize interactions between engineering and other functions, e.g product, design, marketing, operations, etc.

Who You Are:

• Experienced at leading an engineering team in both a cutting-edge large-scale tech company and in a start-up. Consumer tech experience preferred.
• An experienced engineer and big brain technical resource. You know how to design complex scaleable systems and how to design them correctly.
• An engineer at heart with a strong background as an individual contributor to development projects.
• A strong leader and a great communicator, with a welcoming and supportive personality.
• An inspiring motivator, supporter, and quarterback for the team.
• Not afraid to get dirty/into the weeds with the team.

What You’ll Bring:

• Progressive engineering leadership experience
• Senior level Software Engineering experience.
• Experience growing and retaining teams that are continuously shipping product.
• Solid understanding and experience in the Agile methodology, hands-on management of agile, architecture, QA, operations, and support.
• Advanced understanding of cloud-based development methodologies and state fo the art design patterns.
• Understanding and experience of building highly scalable, highly available systems.
• Experience in e-commerce or another high availability, scalable industry
• Strong people management skills, proven success in creating and motivating a strong performing engineering team.
• Past success creating the process that defines a high-quality and enjoyable engineering culture.
• BS/MS degree in Computer Science.
