About Our Role

OpenTable is looking for an Instructional Designer and/or video production Intern to assist in developing e-learning tools and training materials. These materials are for both internal and external consumption with a high focus on videos, certifications and new curriculum development. The Instructional Designer Intern will use strong interpersonal, written, and visual communication skills to bring together text, images, video and audio to communicate and educate our employees, customers, and other stakeholders.

Essential Job Functions 

  • Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and transfer
  • Work with subject matter experts and identify target audience's training needs
  • Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface and the finished product
  • Work with closely with SME's to create content
  • Apply tested instructional design theories, practice and methods
  • Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process
  • Create material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc)
  • Decide on the criteria used to judge learner's performance and develop assessment instruments
  • Maintain project documentation and course folders

Knowledge & Skills 

  • Excellent knowledge of video production process and/or e-learning techniques
  • Basic lesson and curriculum planning skills
  • Basic HTML and Flash programming knowledge
  • Visual design skills (Adobe Creative Cloud, Final Cut Pro X, iMovie) and ability to storyboard
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts
  • Genuine interest instructional design, educational technology or similar
