EMS Software is looking for a part-time (up to 25 hours/week), contract (4-6 months) Technical Writer to assist with the creation of documentation in an agile, deadline-driven software environment. As this is an entry-level, temporary need, relevant experience is not required, but aptitude, flexibility and attention to detail is key.

The successful candidate will work under the guidance of our Senior Technical Writer to produce accurate, consistent, and accessible technical documentation to meet the needs of EMS Software customers, prospects and employees.

Responsibilities

  • Write and revise technical documentation for all EMS Software products
  • Produce release notes and known issues documentation driven by product development schedule
  • Adhere to content standards provided by our Senior Technical Writer
  • Identify needs for documentation and collateral
  • Independently write new documentation based on use cases, user stories, feature requirement documents, specifications, information from internal teams, and use of the product

Requirements

  • Strong attention to detail and an aptitude for technical accuracy
  • Excellent English skills and proficiency in proofreading/editing, writing, and verbal communication
  • Experience using a consistent writing style and voice from a user-centered perspective
  • Time management skills and experience with meeting tight deadlines and adapting to changing priorities

Preferred Qualifications

  • A technical understanding of enterprise technology (i.e., software, APIs, databases)
  • Coursework towards a degree in technical writing or a related field
