We are looking for a talented Technical Project Manager to enable the SendGrid Operations Team to design, deliver and maintain the infrastructure that allows our customers to send more than a billion email messages a day through the SendGrid platform. Operations is responsible for keeping the SendGrid infrastructure highly available, and for providing an environment that enables our development teams to produce high quality, scalable products as efficiently as possible. Upcoming projects include major network upgrades, a network topology redesign, frequent data center expansions/migrations and support for dozens of projects and initiatives underway by other parts of the business.

What You'll Do

  • Live by and champion our cultural values of Happy, Hungry, Honest, and Humble
  • Facilitate open and efficient communication about Operations work across all SendGrid teams and business levels
  • Work with Engineering Managers and Directors to balance new feature requests with ongoing SendGrid platform improvements
  • Work with Operations Managers to estimate project/feature work and ensure the teams aren’t oversubscribed for quarterly or yearly commits
  • Manage both agile and waterfall projects for Operations teams
  • Clearly communicate blockers, dependencies, risks, and current status to all stakeholders for Operations projects, including escalating through levels of management when necessary
  • Adapt project/feature plans quickly to changing business priorities and evolving technology solutions and ensure that these changes cause minimal velocity drag
  • Manage and track equipment inventory for our growing number of data centers
  • Ensure the teams are working in a collaborative and positive environment, and help to make adjustments where needed to keep a positive team environment
  • Constantly find ways to improve tools, processes and efficiency across all Engineering teams
  • We're an agile, fast growing company and this job description isn't meant to be a complete list of your qualifications or all of the things you'll do

About You

  • A proven track record of managing technically complex, cross-organizational, multi-stakeholder projects
  • You have obsessive follow-through; you hate to let a ball drop
  • You can see looming process and coordination problems early, and take steps to mitigate them
  • You are experienced enough to know when to step in on a project, and when to leave it alone
  • You know how to make process changes gently and incrementally
  • You can communicate effectively with a diverse set of on-site and remote people
  • Technical experience and expertise sufficient to understand and contribute to technical discussions
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Agile certification and PMP preferred
