What you’ll be doing

The DevOps Build Engineer role covers a fairly wide range of systems design, buildout, and operational support for DigitalGlobe’s primary, web-based imagery delivery platform. We collaborate with IT resources, Development teams and other DevOps team members to deploy new functionality and solve critical issues while improving the customer experience. The Build Engineer is responsible for managing and refining the build process and supporting the operation of the test systems used by the Development organization, as well as the production systems used by our paying customers. As a key member of our SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) DevOps Team, the Build Engineer will work with feature teams to enable new functionality and scale our infrastructure accordingly. This includes standardizing and managing the framework for builds, source control, database migrations and the production of release candidates for our software products.

Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain, enhance and extend build infrastructure including Continuous Integration, automated builds, automated database migrations, and automated build verification testing.
  • Provide software configuration management, including source control as well as analysis, performance tuning, and resolution of config & deploy issues in dev, test, and production environments.
  • Collaborate with SAFe Program and Feature Teams to design new deployment models, and maintain release and continuous integration processes and frameworks.
  • Maintain and enhance infrastructure for automated Liquibase database migrations.
  • Collaborate with architect, DevOps, and development teams to migrate our online platform to the AWS cloud.
  • Integrate existing build and deploy process with the new enterprise CI/CD pipeline.

Requirements

  • Jenkins, Git, Maven, Artifactory, LiquiBase, and Docker experience.
  • Linux and/or Unix experience.
  • Experience with one or more of the following scripting languages: Python, Perl, Bash
  • Puppet and Java experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Agile development process from build through deployment.
  • Enthusiasm for solving interesting problems, self-starter.
  • Ability to understand and troubleshoot complex, interdependent software systems.
  • Strong communicator and a passion to work with others to achieve team goals, especially supporting development teams.
  • Strong client focus, business acumen and results orientation.
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Resident.
