 Job Summary

 

SolidFire is growing and we're looking for a Solution Quality Architect that will focus on solution system test and interOP test architecture for cloud based data center use cases. You will focus on VMware use cases first as this is the largest part of our market, but also work with other OS’s and Hypervisor solutions with the team.

The successful candidate for this role will have expertise and knowledge with developing a risk based storage test strategy from a number of perspectives; system administration, DevOP’s best practices , reliability, maintainability, supportability, performance and troubleshooting .

You will analyze our market use cases, customer use cases, customer workloads, environments, escalations and defects to design test strategy and test plans for a very complex distributed system. You will also be working with and coordinating tests with other test architects and teams as well as working with and leading the Solution System test team. Your analysis, evolution and reporting on a Solution and InterOP risk based test coverage model is also critical in this role.

You will be part of a highly motivated team that specializes in ensuring that our product and customer solution stack environments are ready to be released to customers.

Understanding of the VMware VSphere ecosystem features and data center best practices is key for this role. Knowledge of other orchestration/management layers like OpenStack and CloudStack is a plus. This is a high-visibility role that will impact the fundamental performance of our cloud storage solution and is a great opportunity to join a highly collaborative team. We deliver high-performance, high-availability, fault-tolerant software that runs concurrently on an all SSD storage and flawlessly pools all resources, while maintaining data integrity even if the network, rack, node, hardware, file system, kernel or other software components fail.

In this fast-paced environment you will work on advanced software and will have the opportunity to utilize your QE expertise, personal initiative and technical creativity on a daily basis.

You'll not only be writing and executing complex solution level test plans, cases and reports, but you'll need to apply your QE knowledge to create optimal overall testing strategies based on our systems level software. Additionally you will be responsible to:
Design complex storage strategy and configurations to test product capabilities in simulated production-like environments.
Collaborate with development engineers in fault isolation, root cause analysis and problem resolution.
You will be hands on when needed and perform highly structured manual and automated tests and provide detailed status reports.
Mentorship of the team on test methodologies, best practice, troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

Job Requirements

You are self-driven, creative, able to impact the overall QE big picture and do the detailed QE work that drives successful Solutions and System testing. You've been successful handling the full lifecycle of Quality Engineering. You've got a strong knowledge of storage and networking technologies combined with domain knowledge of the following: VMware and Various Linux Distributions/Hypervisors, MSFT server knowledge. Additionally, you have:
Minimum of 12 years experience working in a QE team environment delivering high quality, systems level software.
Experience developing detailed risk and data driven test strategy, test plans and test cases that uncover quality and customer expectation gaps in the solution configuration, optimizing, tuning or within the SolidFire Products with a focus on real world customer use cases.
Knowledge of test automation to increase efficiency and speed of testing where needed.
A working knowledge in developing InterOP and integration coverage models.
Excellent analytical skills and the ability to debug complex system problems, experience with system monitoring tools in VMware, Linux and other OS’s.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Experience working directly with SW Engineering & QE Automation teammates.
Experience working with Customer Data Center architectures in compute and storage management, knowledge of field issues and troubleshooting. Knowledge of iSCSI and/or Fiber Channel configuration, testing and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of Data Center Application workload and performance requirements.

Education

- A minimum of 12 years of experience is required.
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, a Master Degree, or a PhD; or equivalent experience is required.
- Demonstrated ability to have successfully led multiple, complex technical projects.
