Solution Architect
Solution Architecture - What does it mean to you? At a basic level, you must love to solve business problems with technology. This means you are able to frame a functional desire in a technical solution which spans multiple integrated systems and you can clearly communicate the same both visually and in text. You want to hone your design skills on UI, process, and data levels.
Overall, your competencies should include at least 3 of the following:
- Great facilitation and expectation-setting. Can work with folks from CIOs to DBAs to utility field workers to achieve consensus on solutions and business requirements.
- Business process flows - Using BPMN, can model human and systems interactions to successfully convey solution requirements to business and development staff.
- System integration - Ability to create data integration scenarios and perform data mapping for many best of breed applications like IBM Maximo, Oracle CC&B, SAP, and ESRI. Ability to work across REST, SOAP and other interfaces using HTTPS, JMS, FTP, and other transport protocols.
- Data architecture and data structures - Can seamlessly traverse ERDs, document schema expressions in XML and JSON. You have advanced SQL and NoSQL skills.
- User interface design - ability to define essential needs for a user in custom HTML5 application development. Ability to code in JS is important and C# a plus.
- Software QA process and flow - you can step in and help testers where needed.
- Data Scientist - can frame analysis problems and propose technical solutions.
- Data Visualization - strong desire to tell stories useful to people with data visualization, knowledge of D3 and R.
- Work Breakdown - after all your genius design work, you can break the tasks into byte-sized pieces for developers to work with. You will be available to listen to developers who may have inspirations of their own to make a superior product...
