Founded in 2009, SendGrid is a Boulder based, industry-disrupting, cloud-based email service to solve the challenges of reliably delivering emails on behalf of our customers.  We deliver over 20 billion emails a month.

As a software engineering intern at SendGrid, you will work on a small, versatile and passionate team, tackling new problems as we continue to push our technology forward. You will use the latest technology stack, and learn best practices of software development in a real world setting.  You will be working alongside some of the best and brightest engineers in the industry. You will solve problems at scale, and have direct impact on building out the next generation of email products at our company.

This is a paid internship beginning in the summer of 2016.

What You'll Do
  • Work with senior members of the team on designing reliable, distributed services
  • Learn to develop and maintain a high quality code base in a dynamic team environment
  • Implement performance benchmarking of existing APIs and endpoints
  • Write test cases and system health checks to gain an overall understanding of the architecture and design of the product
  • Research, identify, reproduce and document bugs
  • Troubleshoot problems and implement fixes as needed
  • Build and enhance products that empowers businesses to manage large scale customer data

About You

  • Studying Computer Science or related technical discipline
  • Have fluency in one of: Go, Java, C/C++, Python, Ruby
  • Competent in Linux system administration
  • Experience with data storage (SQL, NoSQL)
  • Involvement with open source projects a plus
  • Completed courses in data structures, algorithms, software design, architecture, distributed systems and/or Object Oriented Programming
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Communicates complex ideas with simplicity and clarity
