SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Altvia is seeking a passionate and committed Software Engineer to join our Engineering team.  You will be an integral part of a small team that is charged with technically extending and supporting our product line. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining our products’ software, as well as managing the cloud-based infrastructure that it depends on.

You will build web-based products for the private equity industry with guidance from the product team. Your development responsibilities will include architecting, refining requirements for, designing, developing and testing new features and products. You will also be assisting in investigating, troubleshooting, and fixing production problems for our customers.

All of our products are hosted in the cloud, and you will also assist in provisioning, configuring and managing infrastructure and daily operations for our products as needed. Our infrastructure we manage is based on Amazon AWS, and we use Cloud66 to help offload most of the lower-level details of server management. Our Salesforce-based products are hosted by Salesforce, and are primarily managed by our Customer Solutions team.   

You must be able to work well and get along with others, and have a strong focus on supporting your peers and our customers. You must also have a passion to produce high quality software to maintain the trust of our highly valued customers.

Some of the key technologies you will regularly use include Ruby / Sinatra, Ruby on Rails, Javascript, Amazon AWS, and Salesforce APIs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work closely with our Customer Solutions and Sales teams to investigate and solve customer problems

  • Work closely with our product team to determine priorities and requirements for our products

  • Develop and support new and existing product lines

  • Manage our self-hosted products’ infrastructure and daily operations

REQUIREMENTS:
  • 4+ years of software development experience

  • Computer Science degree or relevant work experience

  • Passion for creating high quality software, collaboratively on a team, in a small company culture

  • Able to take ownership and responsibility of tasks, and be detail oriented

TECHNICAL SKILLS:
  • Full stack web development experience is preferred

  • Knowledge of Javascript, HTML, CSS and common web architectures / technologies

  • Cloud-based dev-ops experience is a plus

  • Ruby (Sinatra and/or Ruby on Rails is a plus)

  • Salesforce experience is a plus, but not required

  • Good problem solving and troubleshooting skills
