Position Details:

The Senior DevOps Engineer that we are hiring for will be responsible for streamlining offerings to CSG’s end customers.  They take solutions from development and ensure they are operationally sound prior to rolling into production.  Proposes and implements systems enhancements to improve the reliability and performance of the system.

Responsibilities Include

• Public clouds and cloud technologies such as Amazon AWS/EC2, Microsoft Azure and OpenStack
• Script (Powershell, Perl, Ruby, Python, etc.) and building required automation (using standard technologies such as Salt, Puppet, OpsWorks) and tools
• Industry standard Operating systems, Windows and LINUX
• Contribute to the development, maintenance, and usage of deployment and task automation (OS, database services, virtual networks, or other platform services)
• Participate on fast-paced DevOps and SysOps Engineering teams within Scrum agile processes
• Work directly with architects and developers to create supportable designs and debug problems
• Develop cloud infrastructure designs and implementations and guiding the process from development to operations
• Create and deliver knowledge sharing presentations and documentation to developers and operations teams (Document system diagrams, run books, and procedures, etc.)
• Attend and contribute in technical discussions and working groups
• Serves as subject matter expert for matters relating to system and application architecture.  
• 3rd tier support for operational production issues when needed
• Participate in an on-call rotation to provide support during downtime events

Professional Experience

• 3-5 years of related experience in DevOps or equivalent role
• Some experience with a broad range of IT technologies:  Network, Storage, Virtualization, Compute, Database, Automation, SDLC, and distributed transactions in high volume managed services or billing services provider environments
• Some experience with computer programming.  Any languages are acceptable. Python or  C# preferred.
• Some experience with Systems administration preferred
• Any leadership or mentoring experience is a plus

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

• Understanding of basic client/server architecture

• Aptitude with creating or maintaining shell scripts or batch files (e.g.  KSH, Powershell, .bat)

• Skill in Oracle/Postgres and Database administration, Database design

• Systems administration of Windows Server 2003 through Current, Unix and/or Linux Systems

• Ability to troubleshoot problems with complex computer systems

• Working knowledge of CHEF, Jenkins or other continuous improvement products.

• Working knowledge of AWS or other cloud technologies (AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Open Stack)

• Python, Perl, C#, Powershell

• Experience with IT compliance and risk management (e.g. security, privacy)

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent education/experience
