Role Purpose 

Create the physical products for Craftsy Kids, leading the development process from product concept to production and partnering with the cross-functional Craftsy Kids team to successfully commercialize our products. 

Responsibilities 

• Design compelling products for Craftsy Kids in partnership with our Content team, with thoughtful vision for how the consumer-oriented product portfolio should evolve over time and continue to meet the team’s financial goals 
• Research & Ideation: understand the competitive environment as well as the consumer needs, behaviors, and occasions for our products 
• Design, Prototype & Test: develop prototypes and test methodologies to ensure our ideas can be enjoyed by the people we’re designing for 
• Sourcing, Sampling & Procurement: create product specifications, manage development timelines, and identify and nurture strong vendor partners to supply samples and the inputs that will fulfill our product vision and that meet the necessary safety standards 
• Commercialization: partner with Buyer, Merchandising, and Marketing to bring to life each product in conjunction with associated digital content so that our consumers understand what makes our products special

Qualifications 

〈 5+ years experience in designing physical products from conception to commercialization, preferably in kid-related industries (toys, games, educational products) 
〈 A passion for product design and development, including hands-on prototyping and iteration 
〈 A creative thinker with consumer empathy and an unrelenting bias for action to bring ideas to life 
〈 Poise under pressure and flexibility to adapt to changing conditions of a startup environment 
〈 Organized self-starter with an ability to manage several workstreams and keep projects on track 
〈 A strong communicator and team player 
〈 A love for kids and an interest in designing creative activities
