PR & Media Coordinator

About the Role
The PR & Media Coordinator will work directly with the Manager of PR & Media and play a key role supporting and executing the company's overall PR plan. Candidates interested in applying for this role must be extermely organized and detail-oriented, comfortable juggling multiple assignments, and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Skills Required
Our ideal candidates will:
- Have a Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, English or a related field preferred.
- Have 3+ years of PR experience (ideally in an agency setting and/or the employment or online/internet space).
- Have familiarity with Vocus or a similar media database system.
- Be able to multitask effectively and efficiently.
- Have outstanding and professional communication skills, written and verbal.
- Enjoy “connecting the dots” when it comes to relationships and opportunities.
- Be detailoriented, highly organized, responsible, and ethical.
- Have a knack for research and an enjoyment for “finding a needle in the haystack”.
- Be happy and successful working independently, but also proactive when it comes to reaching out, brainstorming, and working with colleagues.
- Place a high value on the ability to work flexible hours, from your home office, and for a company you believe in!
Other Requirements
- You must have reliable highspeed Internet access, a fast computer, and phone access.
- Your work environment must be one in which you can really focus without distractions.
- You must be able to work at least 20-25 hours, spread evenly throughout the week.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with media list development, editing and press release distribution using Vocus.
- Manage internal clip tracker through daily media monitoring.
- Analyze relevant media coverage and new studies to help develop expert source and trend story pitches.
- Identify and suggest new contacts, outlets and opportunities to feature FlexJobs and/or position its leaders.
- Manage the development of the editorial calendar.
- Research awards, conferences and speaking opportunities.
- Assist with administrative duties and organization projects as needed.
