Hi. I’m Kendra. I’ve been at Craftsy since 4/1/2013 (wow!). It’s been an adventure. Over the last 3 years, we’ve built a People Team and HR function that support our 200+ employees. We started with the basics – bringing everything in house (bye-bye PEO), building an HR foundation (strong processes, systems & tools), recruiting (lots of people), and adding in performance, recognition and onboarding enhancements. In many cases, we’ve done those things more than once (1.0, 2.0, 3.0…).

We’re continuing down this path keeping the basics in great shape – evolving and making changes when we find out that would make our team’s experience better or when the business indicates we should. We’re also adding in new things – engagement initiatives, learning & development programs and more. When I think about my own, and our team’s experiences I can say with confidence that the learning has not stopped and won’t any time soon. With all we want to accomplish we’ve decided that we need some additional support so we’re looking to add a new team member – a People Ops Generalist/HRBP.

It’s hard to convey in words what you’ll do every day, but here is a taste:
  • Work with people across the company and specifically with Justin, Ian, Megan and Grace – HR may be your focus but Craftsy is your team
  • Give your best regardless of the task at hand (coming up with a new program – fun!, updating ADP – less fun!, or pulling documents for an audit – not fun, but very important!)
  • Show that you are a credible partner on relevant HR topics (benefits, performance management and more) and commit to learning if you have gaps
  • Demonstrate great judgment – that will get you most of the way and we have resources to help when it doesn’t
  • Come in and work smart, hard or whatever way it takes to get the right results
  • Learn about our business, customers and teams, we have the feeling you’ll like what you find out
  • Show up on our Instagram and Twitter every now and then as you connect to our team and company culture
Several years' experience and expertise within the HR function is critical for our next team member, and we realize that may come from a variety of paths. Help us understand if you might be the right person by submitting a resume that highlights your experience and accomplishments and by answering the following questions instead of submitting a traditional cover letter.
  1. If you were to radically change an existing HR program, process or activity, what would you choose and why? How would you initiate and see the changes through to implementation?
  2. What have you learned about Craftsy that makes you want to be a part of our team?
