 As a Database Administrator on the Healthgrades team you will provide technical support in the planning, design, and development of the database infrastructure.  You will focus on performance tuning, load testing, security administration, backup/restoration, real-time monitoring, troubleshooting, and ongoing grooming and maintenance. You will specifically focus on Oracle databases and their supporting tools while providing guidance related to policies and procedures. This is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in being cross trained on other databases (NoSQL, Greenplum and SQL Server) and learning new technologies including Amazon Web Services, Aurora and Elasticsearch.

Primary Responsibilities:  
• Administration of Oracle databases for staging and development environments.
• Provide advice and support to development resources.
• Provide guidance in the creation and modification of standards and procedures.
• Supporting the standing standards, policies and procedures of the customer team. 
• May be scheduled for after hours on-call support and will be required to apply production packages during non-peak hours.
 
Skills Requirements:
• 5+ years of day to day administration of Oracle databases
• Demonstrated experience collaborating with development, architecture, and release teams, providing architectural design recommendations, and driving standards for effective Oracle transition to production operations.
• Drive end to end availability, performance monitoring, and capacity planning for Oracle, using different tools
• Implement automated methods and industry best practices for consistent installation and configuration of Oracle for production and non-production environments
• Solid experience with Python
• Manage backup and recovery functions for an Oracle environments
• Proactively monitor and setup alerting mechanism for both database and supporting hardware to ensure system health and maximum availability
• Create users, establish database security, create resource queue, performance tuning in terms of query execution etc.
• Plan and coordinate system upgrades.
• Perform capacity monitoring and short and long-term capacity planning in collaboration with development resources, system administrators and system architects
• Manage Disaster Recovery environment 
• Identify and resolve incidents and address to user problems/concerns
• Previous experience or exposure to NoSQL databases and/or AWS technologies preferred.
