Position Description & Expectations

Due to growth of our research team, GutCheck is seeking an Online Sampling Specialist to help ensure project feasibility and assist in managing internal processes and procedures related to online sampling.

This position requires excellent numerical skills and an ability to think critically about population distributions, target markets and the ideal sample composition for surveys. The sampling specialist will be involved in providing input, advice and support during the proposal phase as well as project setup where quota or probability samples are designed.

This is your chance to dive into qualitative and quantitative market research, specifically as it relates to online testing of new products and ads. This role is a big piece of our research operations and will work closely with our ORS, CS Teams and will also interact with Sales and vendors.

Here’s what a typical week might look like:

  • 40% of your time: Processing online projects from initial feasibility through the final invoicing. This includes building relationships with online sample providers, determining the best approach to recruiting, and relaying that to our teams in sales, client service, and research
  • 30%: Design or support the design of sampling plans; critical evaluation of research requests and target markets specified, considering if sample specifications match the target market and making recommendations; finding and using population-level information to design sample plans; clearly communicating sample plan information to client service and research teams. Additionally, consult with the ORS team on best sampling practices and help troubleshoot in-field sampling or quota challenges.
  • 20%: Oversee online feasibility and sample pricing. This includes seeing your recruits through to the execution phase of research. Here, you’ll maintain your relationship with online sample providers to ensure we’re recruiting the right audience -- on time, within budget, and all quotas filled.
  • 10%: You’ll have the opportunity to help streamline process across our workflow. This will include things like helping assign projects to our researchers in a systematic way, and optimizing our process around providing support to respondents during and after a study

You will report to our Recruitment & Sample Manager and will be responsible for helping drive team metrics related to the above tasks. Ultimately it’s your job to help enable high quality proposals and follow through on project troubleshooting where your sampling expertise can mitigate in-field sampling challenges – helping the team achieve GutCheck’s core positioning: the global online agile market research solution for quick consumer reads.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, social science, marketing research or the equivalent of combined education and experience
  • 2-5 years professional experience in qualitative and quantitative online sample management
  • Knowledge of online sample providers and recruiting best practices
  • Use of tools and software packages such as Excel, SAS, SPSS to extract and manipulate population information from multiple sources such Census and other databases
  • Problem-solver, multi-tasker, negotiator, strategic thinker, a desire to be part of a rapidly growing research company
