IT Database Administrator III
Database Administrator (MySQL highly preferred)
Reports To: Manager, Systems Support
Arrow Electronics has an excellent opportunity for a Database Administrator in our Englewood, CO location. This position will be designing, supporting, installing and maintaining highly available databases. You will be supporting web applications, reporting structures and internal applications. We are looking for someone to work closely with technology superstars to build and operate our eCommerce sites. The ideal candidate is someone that has a strong desire to learn new skills and have fun doing it.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- This position will work closely with the application development team to design and implement schemas
- Enhance database monitoring and backups
- Tune database configurations
- Review release notes and upgrade or patch database software based on maintenance schedules
- Develop stored routines, functions and scripts
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a similar technical related field
- 5+ years of MySQL database administration.
- Experience working in a Linux and Windows administration environment
- Experience with highly-available database technology like clustering and replication
- Experience developing database security standards and best practices
- Experience administering MySQL and/or MS SQL Server needed for consideration.
Preferred
- Experience developing database security standards and best practices
- Understanding of multi-tier application architecture and technologies (web servers, database servers, load balancers, etc.)
- Excellent problem solving skills
